Laukote
Norberto Miguel, who belongs to a long established family of vine-growers who process their wines in their underground winery beneath the medieval town of Laguardia / Biasteri, has the smallest winery in the Rioja Alavesa currently in production. In its new "surface" installations, he processes young wines, wines “d'auteur” and cask-fermented white wines. The grapes from the winery's seven hectares of "old" vineyards, are gathered by hand in boxes in order to recover the traditional wine making processes of yesteryear.
During the visit, and after giving visitors an overview of the wine making process, the owner of the winery invites them to try 3 different kinds of wines in a charming “ *txoko” or private dining-room.
*Txoko: Traditional meeting place in the Basque Country where people gather to eat and drink.
